Privacy Policy
Last updated 2 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Wakili Msomi collects, why, and the choices you have. We process personal data in line with the data protection laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), and optionally your phone number, region and preferred language.
- Professional details for advocates and firms: roll or registration numbers, practice areas, regions, fees and profile text.
- Matters and conversations: descriptions you write, messages, and documents you share with advocates.
- Community content: publications, comments, discussions and room messages you post.
- Questions you ask on Learn, to answer them and to protect the service from abuse.
- Technical data: IP address and browser information, used for security and rate limiting.
How we use it
- To match matters with suitable advocates and to deliver messages between you.
- To verify advocates and firms against official registers.
- To keep the platform safe: preventing spam, abuse and impersonation, and acting on reports.
- To send you notifications about your account, and the newsletter if you subscribe.
Who can see your information
Your matter is private until you send a consultation request; then only the advocates or firms you chose can read it. Conversations are visible only to their participants. Public profiles, publications and community posts are visible to everyone. Platform administrators can access data when needed to verify accounts, resolve reports or meet legal obligations.
We do not sell personal data. We use service providers to run the platform (hosting, database, file storage and AI processing); they process data only on our instructions.
How long we keep it
We keep account data while your account is active. Closed matters and their conversations are kept so you have a record; you can ask us to delete them. Some records may be kept longer where the law requires.
Your rights
You can access and correct your details in Settings, and ask us to export or delete your data by contacting us. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.
